“I have known and worked alongside Dave in his various role within CBM International over the past 11 years.

During the first years, Dave was CEO of CBM Canada which was known globally as a strong, progressive member of the organisation.  My dealings with him during this time reflected wisdom and strong strategic emphasis in those things he undertook.  His board in Canada was also very highly regarded as an example of excellent governance.

My next dealings with Dave were soon after he became the regional director for CBM Southern Africa.  He entered a new culture with very disgruntled staff in an office that needed a totally new sense of direction and purpose.  I watched as he turned that office around with grace and, again good strategic perspective and development of good governance.

He then moved to East Africa, where again he strengthened that office, before taking over as President of CBM International. In this role he needed to make very tough decisions, which he carried through with great care.  He also managed well to work in a very culturally different environment in this large and complex organisation based in Germany.

I have huge regard for Dave as a person of great integrity, of a very strong work ethic and commitment to working on behalf of the world’s most vulnerable populations. He is a very strategic thinker who also understands the role and value of strong governance in an organisation.

I know he would bring value to any work he commits to give support to.”

Poverty Roundtable

I am pleased to recommend Dave McComiskey and Associates who facilitated strategic planning for the steering committee of the Poverty Roundtable Hastings Prince Edward (PRT HPE) in 2017. Dave helped the Poverty Roundtable Hastings Prince Edward steering committee through intentional, responsive, inspired and highly skilled facilitation.

Currently we are moving into the next phase in our development – from engagement and foundation building towards community impact, a collective process and collective commitment that we can attribute to Dave’s mastery of facilitating strategic planning processes, of working with diverse groups and his depth of knowledge and experience in planning and organizational development, reading groups and responding accordingly.

Processes that he engaged helped us to unravel assumptions, speak to current situations and to clarify options and visions. Dave is approachable, a group builder, observant and responsive. His ability to recognize, name and utilize group dynamics as well as locate dynamics within organizational development stages demonstrated both his responsiveness to our unique characteristics as well as supported our renewed commitments and course of action in anti-poverty work. His skills in facilitating planning processes, in facilitating multiple dialogues, his ability to read groups and move groups through processes towards attainable goals is exceptional.

Dave is a professional, high quality consultant focused on helping organizations meet their mandates and aspirations – bringing both experience and knowledge in governance, strategic planning, development and skillful facilitation into moving, not just groups, but visions for our communities forward.

Collaborative work is often times hard work, requiring frequent re-focusing, the development of a common purpose, a commitment to clear roles and responsibilities and sometimes, a realignment of strategy to stay the course; Dave’s ability to recognize where a group has needs some help  and to facilitate meaningful and intentional dialogue that creates the foundation for success is remarkable.

I worked with Dave for the first time over the last few years with a collaborative project in our community.  As someone who also often facilitates strategy planning, I learned a great deal from his focus, his ability to pull the threads of conversations that lead to the heart of issues, and his obvious skills and abilities in strategy planning, governance and facilitation that leads to successful outcomes.

Dave can only be described as genuine and sincere.  He is thorough, knowledgeable, approachable, and committed to meeting the goals and objectives of the group he’s working with.

Thank you for your professionalism and your insight Dave, it was a pleasure to work with you!

Leadership is a journey.  Regardless of the position or seniority you hold your future success depends on how you continue to develop yourself as a leader.

Leaders need to be self-aware, they need to understand themselves and those they would like to have follow them.  Leadership development is a process of continuous learning—a journey to where you want to go.  Like every journey—the people you travel with can make or break you.

In 2008 Dave’s passion for leadership started him on a new journey, working with leaders across the globe.  Since then he has worked with organizations in Canada, the US, UK, Germany, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa looking to make a real difference in people’s lives.  Dave is a gifted facilitator who can support you on your journey to becoming an exemplary leader; he can work with your organization to help you unleash the potential of your team.
